...Notice a difference between this class and the previous group from 1970? The 1971 school year was the first to introduce busing in order to desegregate Charlotte's schools. Traditional African American schools, like West Charlotte High School, received an influx of white students. This happened across the county as the school board complied with the mandate to desegregate the school system.
